Kindergarteners to Glance at Their Futures

The first day of school can often be an intimidating experience, but Alachua County public schools are trying to help kindergarteners entering the system look forward to the school bell. The annual Kindergarten Round-Up will take place tomorrow and children and parents are invited to visit their zone schools to register and explore. Alachua County School Board Elementary Ciricculum Supervisor Doris Ann Imler says this gives children the opportunity to get acclimated to a new environment. The Round-Up also marks the first day parents can register their children for kindergarten. Imler says begining registration early helps the schools prepare for the upcoming year. She says they hold this event every year at the same time so the community can plan to attend and be prepared to register.
