UF Students Attend "Rally in Tally"

University of Florida students "Rallied in Tally" for education funding yesterday. External Affairs Director for UF Student Government Dana Somerstein and about 25 other UF students attended the session and spoke on behalf of greater funding for higher education.
Somerstein said students focused on the New Florida Initiative which would grant $100 million in new recurring funding for the State University System. She said there is a serious need for more funding for higher education and is glad it is being brought to the forefront and supported by Governor Charlie Crist.
About 200 college students representing Florida's 11 public universities came together Thursday on the capitol steps in Tallahassee to promote the importance of funding to the legislature.
