The Marion County Health Deparment issued a rabies alert with in a mile of Ocala Boat Basin. The alert comes after a small kitten was tested positive for rabies. Public Information Officer Johnny Thompson says people need to be very cautious. Thompson also says if people have come in contact with unknown animals, they should contact their local physician or the Marion County Health Department. The alert will remain in effect for two months, unless another rabid animal is found.
