An Alachua County Comissioner will join Michelle Obama in Washington tomorrow in an effort to battle childhood obesity. City Comissioner Cynthia Chestnut has been invited to attend First Lady Obama's childhood obesity kick-off event. Chestnut says she is excited to learn more about Obama's initiatives in order to make changes locally.
Chestnut plans to focus on the factors that contribue to the increasing number of overweight and obese kids. She says the problem develops out of a lack of time and priority for excercise and nutrition, which must be addressed. Commissioner Chestnut is also pleased Michelle Obama's childhood obesity program will bring greater attention to nutrition in schools.
