A federal program has some Gainesville residents trading in their vehicles for discounted, newer ones. General manager for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Hyundai of Gainesville, John Lanza, says the program is helping to stimulate the local economy. Other area dealerships include Gatorland Toyota and Palm Chevrolet of Gainesville. Customers can get up to $4,500 on top of other discounts the dealerships are offering.
Lanza is also encouraging customers to trade in their cars before this program ends.
The program is expected to run until November first or when the 1-billion-dollars is used up.
