Chicken Pox at Alachua County Jail

Staff at the Alachua County Jail are taking precautions against the spread of chicken pox among inmates. Although there are only potential cases, jail spokesperson Eugene Morris, says they are testing inmates to confirm. Since the first suspected case was reported, 82 inmates from pod 2-D were isolated. Morris says a spread is likely becuase the inmates are in close quarters. Morris says instead of having inmates walk tot he cafeteria, meals are being delivered to the isolation pod. Visitors are required to contact the jail before visiting certain inmates from pod 2-D.
