Putnam County Escaped Convicts

A nationwide search has begun for two men that escaped Putnam County Jail early Wednesday morning. Since their escape, the two convicts have stolen three cars and are suspected in an elderly woman's death. Doni (DAHN-e) Brown and Timothy Fletcher; both have long criminal records and were serving jail time actually in the same cell for an armed robbery committed together in 2008. Putnam County police spokesman Lt. Johnny Greenwood believes the inmates were assisted in their escape. Putnam County is further investigating the death of Helen Googe, the step-grandmother of Timothy Fletcher. Greenwood says the two men have not been charged in the homicide, but are certainly persons of interest in the case. Fletcher and Brown were last spotted in Monroe County, Kentucky heading north in Googe's car. Police believe the men have stolen a new vehicle described as a red, four-door Oldsmobile Alero with Kentucky plates. Greenwood advises the public to call the police if they see either of these men. Putnam County has contacted many media outlets throughout the nation in hopes of catching the escaped convicts. They are on a list of most wanted criminals by the U-S Marshalls and America's Most Wanted is looking out for the fugitives as well. Lt. Greenwood says the penalty for their escape will only get worse if they do not turn themselves in.
