It's prescribed burning season in the Ocala National Forest. Forest spokeswoman, Heather Callahan says the reason for the burns is to protect those in the forest. Normally, the prescribed burns would have already begun...but Callahan says the dry weather has resulted in a change of plans. And while the burns can be helpful for wildlife, she says sometimes, those living nearby can be affected. Callahan says so far this year, no wildfires have been reported in the Ocala National Forest.
