It is World AIDS Day and the the theme is leadership. Regional minority AIDS coordinator, Teresa White says leadership is an important virtue in fighting AIDS and HIV. World AIDS Day has been globally celebrated for twenty years. It focuses and the worldwide issue and raises awareness. White says the most important thing people should get from today's message is to be brave and get tested. She says it is important to take responsibility; to talk about the virus with family, friends, doctors and the community.
Voices for Planned Parenthood is holding an AIDS benefit concert tonight at the Wayward Council on West University, it will feature bands playing for charity as well as an art and bake sale to raise money for a local AIDS charity. There is also a global effort to test one million people around the world for AIDS in one day.
