With the condition of America's economy and the holidays right around the corner, it's no surprise that more and more people are suffering from stress. Health Education and Behavior Professor at the University of Florida, Dr. William Chen says high levels of stress can increase blood pressure, cause ulcers and worsen heart conditions. It also has the power to weaken immunities which can result in getting sick more often. Another effect of stress is acne. According to Dr. Chen, high levels of stress weakens the skin and causes skin to be more prone to injuries such as bumps, scratches and oily skin. He says there are many ways of dealing with stress but the most common remedy is working out. Dr. Chen says excercising regularly can help a person maintain a calmer state of mind, therefore, becoming less vulnerable to stress.
