A rainy weekend helped alleviate some immediate dangers for wildfires. Wildfire mitigation specialist with the division of forestry Ludie bond says although things are somewhat better, forecasted weather for this week could cause more problems for the area. Bond says residents should be aware of fine ground fuels, but the fire over the weekend is not a major concern anymore. Luckily for the area, she says no major damage occured but residents still need to take the necessary precautions.

The Alachua County burn ban in place is being reevaluated today to be lifted a day early than expected. Spokesperson for Alachua County Public Safety Carol Davis says the county received enough rain to lift the ban, and the official statement on the burn ban should be released sometime soon.
