Permafrost is frozen, but Schuur says the questions are to be answered once thawing begins. He says information on permafrost has been gathered from results on previous studies. This is how they are able to estimate the total amount of carbon distributed in permafrost soils around the whole Earth. The issue with permafrost is not only in places such as Russia, Europe, or Greenland. Schuur says Floridians should be concerned.
