A University of Maryland study finds that college freshman believe occasional non-medical use of prescription pain killers and stimulants is less risky than cocaine, though more dangerous than marijuana or alcohol. But Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Specialist at the Student Health Care Center at the University of Florida Maureen Miller feels there is a misperception. Although there are no specific numbers for U-F, Miller says the most predominant misused prescription drug on college campuses is Ritalin and Adderall. The study found those students were in fact ten times more likely to use prescription drugs they considered a lower risk.
