Results of Local Primary Released

Yesterday was Alachua County's primary election....and the winners have been announced. For School Board District 2 Eileen Roy won over Jeannine Cawthon 66.7 percent to 33.3 percent.

Roy , who has already served on the school board, is the final winner for District 2. For District 4, Barbara Sharpe won over Janie Williams. Sharpe's 12 year of experience on the school board made her a qualified candidate....

In a 54 percent to 45 percent win over fellow democratic nominee Rick Bryant, Mike Byerly won for County Commission...

But Byerly will campaign until November when he will run against republican nominee Kevin Riordan for County Commission.
Two democratic candidates duked it out for the position of sheriff. Winner Sheriff Sadie Darnell says she's happy the politics is over..

She obtained a sweeping win over Lonnie Scott 60 percent to 40 percent. Darnell says she looks forward to her second term as sheriff.
