Party Conventions Less Important

One University of Florida Political Scientist believes the party conventions have lost some importance but they are still useful. UF Professor, Kenneth Wald says while the conventions were once about announcing the party's ticket, in modern days, it seems they are more about introducing the candidates to the public. It's not just the older generations that seem to be turning away. Wald says the younger generations are as tuned-out as ever. While the significance of the conventions may be on the decline, Wald says its still very important how the candidates are presented to the public. He says many people will still listen to the major addresses made at the conventions and transmit that information to other voters across the country.
