The Florida taw swap proposal would eliminate property taxes paid to local schools in 2010. President of AMJ Incorporated in Gainesville Mike Warren says we need something significant like Amendment 5 to jump-start our economy. Warren says if the proposed constitutional tax amendment passes the average home would save nearly $900 per year. Those in favor of the proposed amendment say essentials such as groceries, rent and medicine would not cost more even if the state increased the sales tax. Those against Amendment 5 say businesses will suffer because of increases to services taxes, which could affect bills from accountants, attorneys and real estate agents. Voters will have their say on the tax swamp proposal on November 4th ballot.
