In an effort to decrease fatality rates in the state of Florida, the Gainesville Police Department will be cracking down on red light runners. Sergeant Joe Raulerson, with the GPD Traffic Team says the effort will be joint with both the Alachua County Sheriff's Office and the University of Florida Police Department. While more officers may be out to enforce the law, Raulerson says fines wont change. Running red lights has caused more than 100 fatlities in the state of Florida, and an average of six thousand three hundred injuries.
