And at yesterday's primary the county showed a little over twenty-four percent turn out rate. The associate state director of AARP in Florida, Nancy Stanton, says its important to emphasize everyone voting. Stanton says that although there's a push for young voters to turn out at the polls, that the elderly population can always be counted on. Yesterday's election kept Sadie Darnell as sheriff of Alachua county, and Mike Byerly at the county commission. Eileen Roy and Barbara Sharpe secured district 2 and district 4 school board chairs respectively.
