Death of Jail Inmate Investigated

The Marion County Sheriff's Office says an inmate died after she was rushed from the jail for medical care.

According to news release from the sheriff's office, 44-year-old Chandra Marsh, of Ocala, collapsed shortly after arriving at a hospital with abdominal pains Monday morning. She was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy has been scheduled.

The sheriff's office said in the release that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate Marsh's death, but a preliminary investigation hasn't turned up signs of foul play.

Marsh has been jailed since Aug. 13 on drug charges, including the sale or possession of crack cocaine.
