Acupuncture Therapy for Rape Victims

Rape victims in Alachua County now have the opportunity to seek therapy through acupuncture. According to the National Institute of Health and the World Health Organization, acupuncture is effective in treating post-traumatic symptoms. Victim Advocate Therapist, Linda Murray, says the program will also help survivors of rape. The Rape Crisis Trust Fund is sponsoring the twelve week program, which includes acupuncture and counseling for five women. Murray says this is the first time they are implementing the program. The program is being offered through the Alachua County Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center and women who are interested in learning more about this program should call (352) 264-6760.
