This year's presidential election is important, but oftentimes the younger population forgets just how important it is to vote in local elections. Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Pam Carpenter is encouraging students to voice their opinion in local elections because student turnout in the past has been low.
Carpenter says students should vote because every vote counts.
She says that the primary will determine many positions that will affect residents and students living in Gainesville. The local primary will take place next month on August 26th.
