Shands Hospital here at the University of Florida has been ranked as one of the best hospitals in the nation. US News and World Report has ranked Shands one of the top 50 hospitals in 11 different specialties. University of Florida Eurology Professor, Youhanez Steveick, says all hospitals in the nations can apply for the ranking.
Steveick says there are different metrics considered when selecting the top hospitals. Among the ranking factors were hospital Reputation, patient mortality and ability in handling difficult situations. US News and World Magazine released these annual rankings on Monday, listing 170 of the US top rankings. There were 5,453 total hospitals that applied and were considered across the nation.
