Iced Tea Carrying A lot of Oxalate

A recent study shows that ice tea contains very high amounts of oxalate, which is one of the key chemicals that lead to the formation of kidney stones. But a Urologist at Shands Hospital, Ben Kanallis says there has yet to be a study which directly links iced tea and kidney stones. Kanallis says that if you already have high amounts of oxalate in you urine, then you may want to limit how much ice tea you are consuming. He says kidney stones in the South tend to be caused by dehydration. Even if one of Kanallis' paitents has stones, he still does not tell them to completely stop drinking tea.
