Florida Congress Split on AIDS Bill

The Florida congressional delegation is split on a global AIDS bill passed yesterday that is being prepared to be sent to President Bush. The bill states that 10 percent of funds are allocated for orphans and vulnerable children. More than half of funding for AIDS programs go for treatment and care. All Democratic members voted in favor of the bill while, the majority of Republican members voted against it. From Alachua County, Democrat Corrine Brown supported it, while Republican Cliff Stearns was against it.
