Coal Spills when train derails in Alachua

A train hauling coal derailed in the city of Alachua this morning. The accident which did not have any reported injuries,occurred near Rachael Boulevard and the U-S four-41 overpass. C-S-X transportation spokesman Gary Sease (cease) reported the de-railment at about 7-15 a-m. The C-S-X transportation train, hauling 100 cars with a two-person crew, was headed to the Gainesville Regional Utilities Deerhaven Generating Station to deliver the coal. Sease (cease) says there are several thousand dollars of track damages.The accident which closed traffic on an area road for about two hours is still under investigation.
