A commission will investigate the Alachua County Jail this week to make sure things are running the way they should. The Florida Corrections Accreditation Comission will be at the jail starting Tuesday to review its polices on personnel, food service, security, and host of other issues, 242 standards in all. Program Manager for the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission Debbie Moody says the program is not required by the state, but it allows organizations to show they are operating the right way. The jail is responsible for paying for the program...Moody says the commission is an effective way to judge our jails because it is a third party organization. The review will likely wrap up by Thursday. The commission will consider the results and release findings after its October 7th meeting.
