University of Florida Continues to Struggle with Budget Cuts

Budget cuts hit the University of Florida hard, and just after two days certain programs are trying to plan what to do with less money and resources. The agriculture and natural resource programs at UF took the biggest total dollar cut at nine and a half million dollars. Senior Vice President for Agriculture and Natural Resources at Jimmy Cheek says he now will look to how to change things to make the program remain successful.

Cheek says the cuts have reduced the depth of the programs and reduces their efforts to serve Florida as they have in the past. IFAS will lose 96 staff positions and another 63 positions will be converted to non-state funds.
