F-CAT Writing scores are in and Alachua county school spokeswoman Jackie Johnson says they are excited about the results. Johnson says students at elementary, middle and high school levels are continuously improving, performing at or above the state average. The state raises the bar of requirements for students nearly every year, but Johnson adds, the Alachua County scores speak for themselves. 79 percent of Alachua county fourth and tenth graders scored 3-point-5 or above on the 6-point scale. 88 percent of eighth graders scored 3-point-5 or above. The county has not received reading or math scores yet.
