Victims of a concert shooting feel the content of gangster rap is sliding down a very slippery slope. Rapper Plies, his security guards, his record company Slip-N-slide, and concert promoter Jock Smooth are facing allegations of intentional infliction of harm, negligent hiring, inadequate security, and failure to protect the patrons of Club 238 West in downtown Gainesville after five concert-goers were injured on July, 2, 2006. Shots were fired into the crowd when the rapper's microphone was cut off at the club's closing time. Plaintiffs attorney Christopher Chestnutt says that now the rapper and his entourage are feeling the heat.
Chestnut says that the behavior exhibited by the rapper and his entourage reflects the content of the rap industry as a whole.
The plaintiffs in the case are seeking 10 million dollars in damages.
