State Senate Issues Apology For Slavery

The Florida Senate issued a formal apology for its supposrt of slavery in a resolution. After hearing about the adversity faced by the slaves in the 19th century and the mistreatment they were subjected to, the Senators quickly passed the resolution. The House passed the resolution later in the day. Glenna Auxier is a Gainesville resident who believes the resolutionis a step in the right direction. A Gainesville man who chose to be kept annonymous also believed the resolution was fitting. Xavier Rios is a Civil Engineering student at U-F, who doesn't not think an apology is necessary.
