The Florida House of Representatives has formally apologized for slavery. Some feel that an apology now is too little too late. Former Alachua County Commissioner and community activist Charles Chestnut the 3rd says an apology is acceptable, but doesn't mean much. Some of the controversy that has delayed this apology is the concern that an official appology would lead to some people using that in order to push for reparations. The state senate made its official apology earlier.
