Education Cuts Not As Bad As Anticipated

Budget cuts for education in the State of Florida were released yesterday by lawmakers. In plans proposed by the House and Senate, Florida's universities and community colleges are expected to have only minor cuts or even increases to their budget which is much less than was feared. Tuition however is set to face a six percent increase. University of Florida Digital Arts student Andrew Vite says he can't imagine the cuts being any higher, even if they are lower than anticipated. David Leverenz who is a professor of English at U-F feels the proposed cuts and tuition hike should have been more. Committee votes for the proposed plans are not expected to be released until next week.
