If you got a flu shot in the last few months and are feeling under the weather, you're not alone. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, this year's flu vaccine only covers forty percent of this season's viruses. Director of Nursing at the University of Florida Student Health Center Jane Cullen says this is a low percentage compared to recent years. Cullen says coming up with a vaccine for a season is a long process. Last week forty four states reported widespread flu activity; however Cullen says they have not had a large number of cases at UF. What she does say is unusual about this flu season is that all the cases at the health center have been after the winter break. Cullen says if you are looking to get a flu shot, there is a limited supply of the vaccine available at the health center so anyone interested should get one immediately.
