Hare Krishna Raises Price of Lunch

The Hare Krishna has been offering hot, inexpensive, vegetarian meals to University of Florida students every week since 1971. On any given day the karma friendly group can serve up to 1,000 students. But due to the rising cost of food as well as the eco-friendly plates and silverware, the group is running short on money.

So how can they fix the problem? By raising the price of their suggested donation from $3- $4. Gainesville Temple President of the Hare Krishna House, Kalankatha Das says the rise in price was in response to a survey conducted last fall . The group recevied about 750 replies. Das says that an overwhelming number of students asked that they keep the high standards and they would be glad to give a little extra to make it possible.

Krishna Lunch is served at the Plaza of the America's on the U-F campus every weekday from 11:15 to 1:30 pm.
