Months after the fatal shootings at Virginia Tech, some students at the University of Florida are still concerned about the safety of their campus. The Students for Concealed Carry On Campus and the Libertarian Activist Network believe that the University would be able to prevent attacks or stop similar situations sooner if students certified to carry a concealed weapon were allowed to do so on campus. Angel Curry, a junior at the University of Florida, is not for or against the idea. Some students, however, are adamantly against the proposal. A student who wished to remain anonymous gave her opposition to the concept. The groups are hoping that Florida State Legislature will change the law that prohibits bringing concealed weapons onto college campuses.
