A New Law Makes Some Restrictions to All-Terrain Vehicle Use

A new law restricting all-terrain vehicle use will be put into effect on October 1st. The law limits ATV use to daytime hours on unpaved roads at speeds of less than 35 miles per hour. But Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Burroughs says this law will be tough to enforce. The law also says that minors riding an ATV must be under the supervision of a licensed driver. Burroughs says there has been an increase in ATV deaths in the past year, especially among minors. He thinks a different law should have been proposed instead. Burroughs says a county can choose not to adopt the law because it costs so much money to maintain unpaved roads.
