YMCA bans sexual offenders

YMCAs in northeast Florida have decided to put in place a strict ban to protect its members. The organization plans to ban all sex offenders and anyone with a history of spousal or child abuse. The Chief Operating Officer for the North Central Florida YMCA Tim Blenco says they have a rigorous screening process to make sure the childen are safe. The YMCAs decision to deny some members if they have a criminal record has won over most but some still think that the decision is unfair. But Blenco says he prefers to play it safe rather than sorry when it comes to other peoples children. So for those parents who send their children to the YMCA for the after school program, they don't need to worry about their children's safety.
