The University of Florida campus may be on its way to becoming a no smoking campus. The Surgeon General had the final word on the debate on whether second hand smoking is harmful, saying in fact it is. The new policy prohibits smoking inside any buildings. Director of Environmental Health and Safety Bill Properzio says there is nothing new about the report. However it still an important concern. Currently there are three designated smoking areas on the UF campus. Properzio says the goal for UF is to take this all the way. Enforcement of the smoking policy on campus is the responsibility of the person in charge of the facility.
