A local animal activist advocate group held a protest today against the use of primates in medical research. Animal Activists of Alachua held a protest in front of the Mc Knight Brain Institute this afternoon. The members stood in front of the building holding signs against primate experimentation and animal cruelty. Animal Activist of Alachua Vice- President, Ana del Alamo says the organization is trying to spread word of the use of primates at the university. Del Alamo feels there are options to avoid using primates in research. The protest is part of a series of events the organization is holding for the National Primate Liberation Week.
