Increase in SUV sales

Local News

The push towards fuel efficiency isnt stopping people from buying S-U-V’s. According to an Auto-data report, sales of sport utility vehicles is surging. S-U-V sales were up 14 percent in the first six months of 2010. Gainesville chrysler, Dodge Jeep general manager Andy Johnson says he hasn’t noticed a huge jump in sales. The rise is due to a combination of steady fuel prices, an improving economy and more reasonable choices. However, Johnson says steady gas prices are the main reason for the increase in sales. However, this doesn’t mean people have stopped buying smaller cars…. their sales still outperform s-u-v’s by more than 700-thousand cars.
