Rays Win Again And So Do Braves In MLB
The Tampa Bay Rays continue their winning ways with a 7-4 win over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday. Evan Longoria had three hits and two rbi to lead the Rays to the win.
In other American League games, New York stays two games up on the Rays on the AL East with an 8-0 win over Cleveland; Chicago beat Seattle 6-5; Oakland downs Texas 3-1; Toronto blanks Baltimore 5-0; Boston beats Los Angeles 7-3 to complete a sweep and Minnesota does the same to Kansas City with a 6-4 win.
In the National League, Tim Hudson continues his mastery over the Washington franchise by getting a 3-1 win over the Nationals. In his career, Hudson has an earned run average under two runs a game against this franchise.
In other NL action, Cincinnati and St.Louis are both tied for the NL Central lead and both teams won on Wednesday. St.Louis beat New York 8-7 in 13 innings and Cincinnati clubbed Milwaukee 10-2 as Joey Votto hits his 26th homer. Elsewhere San Diego downs Los Angeles 6-1; Pittsburgh beats slumping Colorado 6-2; San Francisco edges Florida 10-9; Houston beat Chicago 8-1 and Philadelphia beat Arizona 7-1.
As the trading deadline approaches on July 31 the Dodgers traded for outfielder Scott Posednik from the Kansas City Royals; the Royals receive two prospects in return. And Detroit gets infielder Jhonny Peralta from Cleveland for a minor leaguer.
